Rotating volunteer opportunities
We usually have a roster of volunteer opportunities that can be used to supplement your normal schedule, or even make up hours when you've missed a shift. These will change throughout the year, so make sure to check back and scroll to the bottom to see them all.
HELP WITH NEWBORNS IN NEED
WHAT: Our Newborns in Need program provides a warm welcome bag full of goodies needed for the first few months for all new mothers who deliver at Denver Health. We need help assessing and organizing our supplies, as well as ongoing sporadic assistance. If you love everything baby, then this is for you! WHEN: ongoing WHERE: "Baby room" HOW: Please email Sharon Mushkin at [email protected] |
MEND (“Mind Exercise Nutrition – Do it!”)
WHAT: Denver Health recently received a grant to run a 10-week obesity program for families (the target population is kids 7-13). There will be two Denver Health employees running the programs, but they're looking for volunteers who are able to help facilitate the group- gather them together, get kids excited, participate in the games with them, etc. You would never be leading anything unassisted, but you will be asked to participate and help keep the group running smoothly. The coordinator is hoping for volunteer continuity so that families can see familiar friendly faces when they show up! WHEN: Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. OR Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. Volunteers would choose one day and commit for the 10-week cycle. WHERE: Westside Clinic- 1100 Federal Blvd. HOW: If you're interested and can commit to the 10-week cycle, please email Leah for an introduction to Jessica. |
MIDWIFERY RESEARCH PROJECT (currently on hold)
WHAT: A Denver-area hospital midwifery group is working on a few large research projects as well as some local projects to help promote positive changes in birth and midwifery. They're looking for several volunteers to help with research and other community projects. This is a great opportunity for doula, nursing students, and other birth “enthusiasts” to be involved in creating positive, evidence-based change in birth! The ideal volunteer will have a strong commitment to evidence-based change in birth. Knowledge of research processes would be helpful but not required, just a willingness to learn! WHEN: Flexible days and times, but volunteers should commit to 6 months of 8-12 hours each month. WHERE: Denver Health HOW: If you're interested, please email Leah for an introduction to Meghan. |
CARE COORDINATION PROGRAM ADVISOR
WHAT: Denver Health mobile clinic staff is trying to reach out to Medicaid patients about a new program that opened up under the Women’s Wellness Connection involving cervical and breast cancer screening. Volunteers are needed to help out in the radiology department to tell women about the program. WHEN: Monday-Friday during business hours, no minimum hourly requirement WHERE: Radiology Department, main campus HOW: If you're interested, please email Leah for an introduction to Ashley. |
